77, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away August 11, 2018. Don was born April 29, 1941 in Wichita, Kansas and was the youngest of nine children. He attended Cathedral Grade School and Kapaun High School, Class of ’58. He worked alongside his brothers as a hardware consultant at Lesco Inc, a family-owned business, for more than 30 years. He started his own company, PSI, and ran it until 2001. After retirement, he worked part-time as a bailiff for the city of Wichita the past ten years. He always believed the ability to work was a gift and he received that gift up to the week of his death. He also enjoyed coaching basketball and softball. He helped establish Two Rivers Youth Club (TRYC), coached several girls’ and boys’ basketball teams at St. Patrick’s Grade School, and served as manager/coach for several competitive softball teams for many years. However, his wife and family was his greatest pride and joy. Don married Judith Evelyn McClure 56 years ago and together they raised nine children: Teri Larson (Gregg), Angie Parker (Don), Kevin Lewis (Ann), Paula Carpenter (Derek), Tricia Farrar (Bret), Marcia Novacek (Jay), Pamela Welch (Jared), Tina Blasi (Blake), and Danny Lewis (Tara). Don is also survived by his brothers Paul K., Mark, and Bill, his sister Margaret Ayres, 29 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents Paul C. and Margaret Eva (Armstrong) Lewis, brothers Charles, Ted, and Robert, sister Betty Blubaugh, and grandson, Nicholas Kevin Lewis. His Catholic faith was an integral part of his life and gave him strength and perseverance. For 50 years he volunteered at his parish school as an athletic director and school board member. He was a lay minister over 40 years, as well as a church lector, sacristan, RCIA sponsor, CYO advisor, and Perpetual Adoration adorer every Monday for 32 years. A memorial has been established with St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 2007 Arkansas, Wichita, KS 67203. Don’s visitation will be Tuesday, August 14 at DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary on 201 S. Hydraulic Ave from 4-6 pm. The rosary will be held at 7:30 pm at St. Patrick's Catholic Church following visitation. The funeral mass has been scheduled for Wednesday, August 15 at 10 am at St Patrick's Catholic Church.
