Diana was a wife to Donald Proffitt, who she met in college and married in 1972. She was a wonderful mother to her son, Brian and her daughter, Katrina. She was a nurse for over 50 years, working in hospitals, emergency rooms, rehabilitation and care facilities in both Colorado and Kansas. She loved taking care of and helping others and took great pride in her nursing career. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, gardening, attending local hockey games and exploring her family tree.
Diana was preceded in death by her father Bernard Schmitt, and mother Rose Schmitt. She is survived by her husband Donald, two children Brian and Katrina, and her brother Gerald Schmitt (Dianna Schmitt) and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be given to Starkey Inc., 4500 W. Maple St., Wichita, Kansas 67209. Rosary: 7 p.m. Thursday, April 28; Mass: 11 a.m., Friday, April 29, both at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Wichita, Kansas.
