Charles Lynn Taylor (Age 77) of Wichita KS, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2022 after a brief acute illness. Charles (Charlie) was born in Wichita KS on August 26, 1944 to parents Luke and Donna Taylor. After finishing vocational mill and cabinet school at Wichita East High in 1962, he completed a year at Friends University in pre-pharmacy and worked as a delivery man for a local pharmacy. He worked as a band saw operator for the military division of Cessna from 1965 to 1966. 1966 Charlie began a civil service career with the United States Postal Service. It was there where he met his wife Diana Lewis , whom he married on Feb 14, 1971 at Bethany Methodist Church in Wichita. He was a proud father to daughter Kim, born in 1972 and a son Scott born in 1979. He retired from the Post Office in November of 1994, after 28 years of service. After retiring from the post office Charlie spent several years driving a school bus. He enjoyed watching Kim play softball, and was active in the startup of Two Rivers Youth Club, a girls softball complex in Wichita. He was also active in Boy Scouts, supporting Scott to the level of Eagle Scout. His hobbies included photography, watching sports, especially tennis, woman’s college softball and Kansas City Chiefs football as well as woodworking, an activity that he and his brother in Law Karl referred to as “making sawdust”. He was an avid dog lover. Charlie will be remembered for his sense of humor and witty personality. He is preceded in death by his parents, Luke and Donna Taylor, a brother Larry Taylor and beloved dogs Gidget, Snickers, Taz and Izzie. He is survived by his wife, Diana Taylor, his daughter Kimberly Taylor and his son Scott Taylor, all of Wichita. He is also survived by granddogs Lexi (Kim) as well as Chloe and Ace (Scott).
Funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday August 13th, 2022 at Resthaven Mortuary (11800 W Highway 54, Wichita KS). Reception to follow at Resthaven. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Charlie Taylor memorial fund which will go to Two Rivers Youth Club, a girls softball complex in Wichita KS.
