Nixon, Charles William, went home to be with His Lord on Tuesday, May 24, at the age of 92. Born in Topeka, Charles grew up in Kansas City. A lifelong career in aviation followed, including stints with Rearwin Aircraft, Beech Aircraft, and the Federal Aviation Administration. He also volunteered for the Navy in WWII as an airplane mechanic. He married Gwen Wunsch in 1942, and they had one daughter, Carol. After the death of his first wife in 1971, Charles married Betty Yarnell in 1972 and became father to Teresa, Terry, Kay, Laurie, and Tim. He gave his life to the Savior at an early age. A man of many interests, he loved to fish, boat, paint, and play the violin. He is survived by his wife, Betty Nixon, daughter Carol (Ron) Springsteen, step-family members including daughter Teresa (Tony) Nucci, son Terry (Sue) Yarnell, daughter Kay (Dale) Shelite, daughter Laurie (Lance) Pierce, and son Tim (Tammy) Yarnell; 12 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. Funeral service is 1:00 pm Friday, May 27 at Westside Christian Church.
