Carrol graduated Wichita West High School. Following high school she attended Wichita State University completing her bachelor’s and master’s degree in special education and communications. Carrol had many years teaching special education at the Institute of Logopedics (Heartspring) and many schools in the USD 259 district. Carrol had three children, Rhonda (Donald) Romero, Jennifer (Tad) Weltha-Tribue and Eric (Sara Burns) Ordway. On Feb 14th 1994 she married the love her life, Glyn Laird being together 24 years till the date of his passing in 2018. Carrol truly enjoyed watching her grandchildren and even great-grandchildren’s activities that they were a part of. She was also a follower of the WSU basketball and the Kansas City Chiefs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin & Lula Holtsclaw; husband, Glyn Laird; daughters, Rhonda Romero & Jennifer Tribue; brothers, Keith & David; sisters, Donna & Brenda; and son-in-law, Donald Romero.
Carrol is survived by her son, Eric Ordway (Sara Burns); stepchildren, Glyn Laird (Sheri), Ray Laird, Terry Laird (Tina), Susan Mims and Denise Sparacino (Jeff); brothers, Bennie, Richard, Marvin, Daryl and Ricky; sisters, Allora, Leta and Alannia; son-in-law, Tad Tribue; grandchildren, Rolando (Rachelle) Romero, Daniel (Candice) Romero, Michael (Lindsey) Romero, Grace Tribue as well as many other grandchildren & step grandchildren; multiple great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A come and go viewing will be available from 4:00PM to 7:00PM, Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Lakeview Funeral Home. 12100 E. 13th Street N., Wichita, Kansas 67206. Funeral Service for Carrol will be held 2:00PM, Wednesday, June 7, 2023 with visitation one hour prior, both at Lakeview Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will take place following the service at Lakeview Cemetery in the Mausoleum.
