Carol D. Mercer

Mercer, Carol Denise (Scheffer), 53 of Wichita, KS, slipped away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on April 27, 2016 following an 8-year hard-fought battle with breast cancer. Carol, a native of Akron, Ohio is survived by her beloved husband of 33 years, Donald Mercer and her treasured gift after 20 years of marriage, their daughter, Melissa, the light of her life. Carol, a graduate of Bauder Fashion College, Miami, Florida was a successful account executive with Estee Lauder. Along every pathway throughout her life Carol collected many cherished friends, who loved, laughed and shared her joy in family and fun. She is also survived by her parents, Margaret and Jim Scheffer of Wichita, her siblings: Gus (Cathy)Scheffer of Atlanta, and Karen (Kerry) Miller, of Mooresville, NC. Carol was an inspiration to all who knew and loved her, including her nieces and nephews: Brandon Chapman, Sarah and Lindsey Miller, Stacey and Evan Scheffer, two great-nieces and a great-nephew, her many cousins and Aunt Barbara Scheffer. Friends may call on Thursday,May 5 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. and Friday, May 6, from 12 to 2 p.m. at Lakeview. A Celebration of Carol’s Life will be held Friday May 6, 4 – 5 p.m. at Church of Magdalen, 12626 E. 21st St. N.
