Beverly Ann Stringer was born on May 2, 1931 to James Otis Stringer (1904-1964) and Lena M. O’Neil Stringer (1908-2004). The Stringer family resided at 1901 N. Sedgwick Street, Wichita, Kansas. Beverly attended grade school at Gardiner Elementary at 1951 S. Laura Street. Beverly had 3 brothers and 1 sister. She attended East High School in Wichita, Kansas. On March 23, 1947 Beverly A. Stringer married Clifford Layne Woodson. They lived at 2508 S. Ida Street, Wichita, Kansas. Clifford L. and Beverly A. Woodson welcomed their first child, Juli Anne Woodson on June 1, 1953. The next year they welcomed their son Jeffrey Layne Woodson on August 26, 1954. In 1959 the family of four moved to 5468 N. Armstrong, Wichita, Kansas. Our beloved mother Beverly was a wonderful cook and mother and stayed home and took care of the home. She always added a special touch to things even if we had a picnic in the backyard. She began working outside the home around 1964 when she began working at Innes Store (prior to Macy’s) in downtown Wichita. She sold make up and fashion at this store. About 1967 she began working in aircraft at Westholt Manufacturing that made sub-assemblies for the major aircraft manufactures such as Boeing, Learjet and Cessna. Beverly went on to work at Learjet for a few years. Beverly loved to work in her gardens and enjoyed growing roses. She loved animals of all kinds. She had dogs, cats and even a skunk when she was a child. She fed the birds, squirrels or any animal that entered the property that she owned. When she retired her, and Clifford Layne moved to Pineville, Missouri. They lived there feeding and watching birds, feeding wild animals such as deer and raccoons. They loved floating down the Little Sugar River on inner tubes and canoes. Her and dad loved helping others and volunteering in their community. Beverly was very talented and loved making crafts. She was an accomplished seamstress, painted beautiful paintings and crafts. She painted and sold crafts and fashion wear. She was intrigued by genealogy and was instrumental in researching and documenting her family’s history. There are many people who are amazed and thankful for her documentation of the family stories. It is amazing the work she did without computers. She and her husband Clifford spent many hours going to gravesites and court houses to get proper documentation of family genealogy. Beverly had a strong religious faith and attended church services wherever she lived. She was a Methodist most of her life but after he husband passed away she moved back to Wichita from Pineville, Missouri and began attending Bethany Lutheran Church in South Wichita. She did volunteer work with Meals on Wheels and worked hard at her church to schedule functions for her fellow members. She loved life and her family. She is survived by her children Jeff (Billi) and Juli (Les), her granddaughters Emily Renfro and Joanna Marshall. She has 5 great grandkids. She was truly loved and was a wonderful Grandmother to her grandkids. Celebration of Life services will be 11:00 a.m. on Fri. June 29, 2018 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 1000 W. 26th St. S., Wichita, KS 67217.
