Barbara McClure, 89, Homemaker, passed away on August 5, 2019. She was united in marriage to Richard (Mac) Lavaughn McClure from Leon, KS on November 8, 1950. The marriage lasted 62 years, 2 months, and 2 days. Mac passed on January 10, 2013. Barbara was very active in the First Christian Church until she had to give up her work to care for her husband. She was the original founder of the Community wide Thanksgiving Dinner that is continued to this day in El Dorado. She organized many a funeral dinner and was the wedding coordinator for many years. Barbara and Mac lived at Reese, KS on an oil lease for 6 years after they first married. They then moved to Leon and built a house in 1963. In 1973 they moved to Loveland, CO for his job. They moved back to El Dorado in 1989 to retire and to care for Mac's mother. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Mac, Mother, Father, and 12 siblings. She is survived by her close friends Caroline and Dick Scott and family, Keith, Rina, Cody, Jacob Frye, Frank, Rusty, David, Nicholas and Elizabeth Williams, Renee and Steve Taylor. She leaves her Church family at the First Baptist Church where she found many caring and thoughtful people and many other friends in the community. Special thanks to the Interim Hospice staff and volunteers. Graveside service will be held Thursday, August 8, 2019 10:30 a.m. at Leon Cemetery, per Barbara's request. A memorial will be established with Interim Hospice or the First Baptist Church food pantry.
