Andy was born on July 15, 1933 to Andrew and Edith Roberts. Andy grew up in Urbana, Ohio and graduated high school there. While in Ohio, Andy fell in love with music, mastered multiple instruments and played in numerous bands.
In 1954, Andy married Geneva Lindsley. Shortly after marriage, Andy deployed to Saudi Arabia with the United States Air Force.
After Andy was honorably discharged from the Air Force, he lived in Wichita, Kansas where he and Geneva raised five children Sheryl, Steve, Randy, David, and Linda. Andy loved watching his kids in all their endeavors whether it be music, sports, or anything else that interested them.

In 1982, Andy married Catherine Tinker. This was also the year Andy became a grandpa. Twenty-one more grandkids would follow, 25 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
When not watching his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes, Andy was often seen attending his many grandkids’ events. Andy was an avid lover of sports, fishing, and family. His face would light up when he was around family and loved telling stories of his music, sporting endeavors, and military service.
