Steven "Redwood" Young

Steven was born May 4, 1971 to Charlene Gentry and Richard Young Sr. in San Jose California. Upon graduating from high school in 1989, Steven joined the US Air Force and served honorably for 12 years. Because of his passion for aviation, he continued his service to the country by leading a career in civil service at Sheppard AFB.

On August 22, 2008 Steven married Jessica Young. Together, Steven and Jessica raised 2 children, Jonah and Kameron. Jessica and Steven were inseparable and a great example of a Godly marriage. His love for Jessica was unwavering.

Steven had a deep love for Christ and led by example to those who knew him. He never met a stranger and was loved by everyone. Steven’s personality could be described as witty, never taking anything too seriously and always ready to tell a joke.

Steven was preceded in death by his mother, Charlene Gentry, brother David Hollins, grandmother Jeraldine Johanneck as well as several aunts and uncles.

Steven leaves behind his beloved wife, Jessica Young, sons Jonah Richardson and Kameron Young, his father Richard Young Sr., and his brothers Johnny Hollins and Richard Young Jr. He also leaves behind his Aunt Irene, Mother-In-Law Ellen Arbogast, Father-In-Law Walter Guhl, Sister-In-Law Jennifer Shean and her husband Jake, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Steven’s celebration of life will be Thursday, October 12, 2023 at 2:00pm at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home in Wichita Falls, TX. The family will greet visitors at his viewing on Wednesday, October 11th from 6 to 8pm.
