Roy Lee Sorrell

Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at First Baptist Church of Wichita Falls. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 PM, Monday at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home. Interment will be in Crestview Memorial Park.

Roy was born on May 5, 1923 in McKinney, Texas, to Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Sorrell. Roy and his wife Marion, Married December 18, 1966 in Middletown, New York. Roy graduated from McKinney High School in 1931 and graduated from North Texas State College, earning his Bachelor's Degree. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp during World War 2. He worked for 35 years at Sheppard Air Force Base as an aircraft training instructor.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years: Marion Sorrell of Wichita Falls; 2 sons: Robert Glenn Acker of Allen, Texas and Joe Lee Sorrell of Wichita Falls, Texas; 2 grandsons: Robert Glenn Acker, Jr. of Frisco, Texas and Justin Paul Acker of College Station, Texas; 3 great-grandchildren: Avery Acker of Frisco, Texas, Gavin Acker and Oliver Acker, both of College Station, Texas; 2 sisters: Eva Ellis and Joy Wood of McKinney; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In lieu of flowers the family would like contributions be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls and to the Humane Society.
