Funeral Service will be 1:00 PM, Friday, January 5, 2018, at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday, January 4th from 6 – 8 PM, at the funeral home. Interment with full military honors will be at Crestview Memorial Park following the funeral service.
Ramon was born on April 22, 1943, in San Diego, Texas to Juan and Luisa Ruiz Benavides. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a Military Policeman and as a Personnel Administrator. Ramon earned his Bachelor of Science in Education at Midwestern State University in 1983. In 1996, he retired from the Air Force as a Master Sergeant, he then worked for the Civil Service as a Sports Director, retiring in 2009. “Coach Benny” was very involved with the Sports Center; a volunteer with the Top of Texas Little League Football program; and was the Director and coach for the Northwest Redskins and Cowboys Football Team. He married Agnes Amaya on May 22, 1999, in Wichita Falls.
The family wishes to acknowledge Senior Care Rehab, United Regional CCU RN’s, Hospice of Wichita Falls, and the Rathgeber Hospitality House for their care during this difficult time.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter; Lisa Benavides. Survivors include his wife Agnes Amaya-Benavides of Wichita Falls; son: Ramon (Jay) Benavides of San Diego, Texas; step-daughters: Cynthia Baniecki (husband Stephen) of Fort Worth and Carmen Mitchell (husband Daylin) of Houston, Texas; brother: Juan Benavides (wife Gracie); sisters: SanJuana Cavenas (husband Beto) and Elvira Garza; and grandchildren: Joseph (Johnny) Benavides, Clarissa Baniecki, Connor Mitchell, Sawyer Mitchell, Manuel Herrera, and Leticia Herrera.
