Michael Henry Negri was born April 29, 1920 and raised in Chicago, Illinois. His parents were Sophia and Peter Negri. He graduated from high school in 1938, at which time he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served from 1941-1945 at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas and would later return there to work as a Civil Service employee.
It was during his time at Sheppard AFB that he met his wife, Demoyn Nancy Markum. They were married on July 5, 1942. In the ensuing years, they became the proud parents of two sons, Michael Lee Negri and Peter Larry Negri.
Mike was employed in the Aircraft Maintenance division at Sheppard for the majority of his career, except for a short time that he worked for the railroad. He retired from Civil Service at Sheppard in 1975 and then became the Maintenance Supervisor at Wichita General Hospital. After ten years at that position, he once again retired.
Mike became involved in a variety of activities after retirement. He was a volunteer at Sunshine House, a nonprofit Christian-based center for needy families; he enjoyed woodworking, traveling, camping and golf. Mike and his wife, Dee, were charter members of the Rockin Wheels RV Club and spent 30 years touring the United States and Canada with many of their wonderful friends. They were long time members of Faith Village Church of Christ.
Until the last year or so, Mike enjoyed golfing three times a week at River Creek Golf Course with friends, sons, and grandsons. He was also an avid supporter of the Christian Motorcyclists Association in Wichita Falls, rarely missing a practice or performance of the Drill Team in which his son, Mike, performed.
Mike considered his greatest priorities to be God, family, and others. He and Dee were most happy when they were enjoying family gatherings and celebrations. They both spent their lives loving, caring, and giving.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 69 years, Dee, and his sister, Lucille Negri Glover. He is survived by his son Mike and wife Margie of Iowa Park, TX; his son Larry and wife Connie of Azle, TX; his grandson Mark Negri and wife Susan of Forney, TX; his grandson Brandon and his wife Melanie of Forney, TX; his granddaughter Marci Petrovich and her husband Jerrod of Highland Village, TX; and great-grandchildren, Lauren and Peyton Negri; Nathan, Gary Michael, and Isabella Negri; Hayden Bailey and Shayne Petrovich.
