Lester ‘L. E.’ Braddock, 79 of Wichita Falls passed away early Tuesday, September 20, 2011. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, September 23, 2011 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Chapel with Dr. Mike Roberson and Rev. Harrell Braddock officiating. Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Braddock was born on March 23, 1932 in Southbend, Texas to the late Lester Braddock and Emma Christine (Harrell) Braddock. He married Peggie Stewart on October 13, 1951 in Graham, Texas. L. E. served in the U. S. Air Force from July of 1951 until his honorable discharge as Tech Sargeant in July of 1955. He began his career in Civil Service, retiring in 1993 after 43 years of service at Sheppard Air Force Base. During his career, he served in the Aircraft, Missile, Faculty Development and Health Care Science Departments. During his career he received numerous citations and awards, including the highest award given to civil servant. L. E. was a member of Lamar Baptist Church here in Wichita Falls and was a devout Christian and a devoted husband and father.
Survivors include his wife Peggie M. Braddock of Wichita Falls; son, Dr. Stewart Braddock and wife, Phyllis Braddock of Lumberton, TX; granddaughters, Erin Sheffield and Ashley Braddock; brother, Harrell Braddock of Graham, TX. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by six siblings, Dan Braddock, Mary Ella Henderson, Charles Braddock, Marion Braddock, Louise Wickham and Marie Cretsinger.
Pallbearers will be Harold Apple, Ken Noe, Gerald Freeman, Ralph Ellis, Bob Beck and Delbert Grimes.
