Jacelyn Reynolds Hall, 94, of Wichita Falls died peacefully in her sleep on November 2, 2017. A funeral service will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at Floral Heights United Methodist Church with the The Reverend Don Yeager and The Very Reverend John D. Payne officiating. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 5pm to 7pm at Hampton Vaughan on Tuesday, November 7, 2017.
Jackie was the eldest daughter of John and Lucile Reynolds. She was born on March 5, 1923 in Wichita Falls. Jackie graduated from Wichita Falls High School, Hardin College, and Southern Methodist University. Jackie married Broyles Hall in 1944. For almost 50 years, she was an enthusiastic member of the choirs at Church of the Good Shepherd where Broyles served as Organist and Choir Master, and later at All Saints Episcopal Church where her husband served as Organist. Jackie was an honorary member of the Board of Directors of The Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra. She was Office Manager for J.C. and W.F. Reynolds Oil Producers for 34 years and she was Managing Partner from 2005 until she retired in October 2016 at the age of 93.
Jackie devoted her life to furthering the education and rights of the developmentally disabled. She was a trailblazer in starting the special education program in the Wichita Falls School District. She received many local, state, and national awards for her tireless efforts that started from a closet in one the school’s in the early 1960’s. She was very active at the state political level leading to important legislation protecting the rights of the disabled. She served on the State of Texas Board of Directors for the Association for Retarded Citizens and the local ARC Board. Her unwavering devotion to this cause was not only for her daughter, Laurel, but for all of the disabled. Jackie also served on the Board of Directors of the Wichita Falls Work Services Corporation.
Jackie is survived by her son John R. Hall, daughter Margo Hearn and husband Robert, grandchildren John Hearn and wife Karen, William Hearn and wife Jenna, Meredith Hearn and fiancé Austin Brubaker, three great grandsons Evan, Owen and Hank, sister-in-law Moonyean Reynolds and many nieces and nephews. She will especially be missed by her late sister Martha’s children, Robert Brady, John Brady, Mary Matthews, Walter Brady, Jr. and Matthew Brady. Jackie and her husband left a legacy of enduring love as an example for their children, grandchildren, great grandsons, and their nieces and nephews.
Jackie was preceded in death by her husband Broyles, her daughter Laurel Elaine Hall, her grandson Andrew Robert Hearn, her parents, brothers Stanley C. Reynolds and William F. Reynolds, sisters Barbara Reynolds Crowell and Martha Reynolds Brady, and daughter-in-law Caroline Hall.
