Gordon Darrell Bird

Gordon Darrell Bird, 90, of Wichita Falls passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017. Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 21, 2017 at the Chapel of Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home with Gary Pearce officiating.

Gordon was born on February 3, 1927 to the late Frank H. and Jesse E. (Baker) Bird. He married Alline (Boyles) Bird on August 1, 1954 who preceded him in death. Gordon later married Patsy Ann (Gentry) Bird on August 12, 1989.

After retiring from the Air Force, Gordon was an instructor at Draughon’s Business College and later employed by Vista Cablevision. He was a Past Master of Megargel Lodge 1038, a member of Faith Lodge 1158, the York Rite, Ft. Worth Scottish Rite, Maskat Shrine Directors and Legion of Honor Units, Faith 713 Eastern Star and served on the advisory board of Wichita Falls Daisy Rainbow Assembly #371. He was a member of Lamar Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by Alline, his parents, his sister Doris Rhoten and brother, Frank H. Bird, Jr.

Gordon is survived by wife, Patsy; his daughter, Bonnie Patterson and husband Phillip; son, Darrell Bird and wife Sharon; daughter, Phyllis Bird; grandchildren, Kyle Reed and wife Paige, Cody Reed and wife Miranda, Keith Bird and Jordan Bird; great grandchildren, Cailie, Nolan, Beckett, Lexi and Greyson Reed.

Memorial may be made to the Maskat Shriners Hospital Patient Transportation Fund.
