Betty was born August 23, 1934, in Holliday, Texas to Henry Lee and Carrie (Palmer) Stephenson.
Upon graduating from Holliday High School, she went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone in Wichita Falls. Betty hit it off with a fellow co-worker named Ralph C Parker, and they were married May 5, 1956, in Holliday, Texas. They lived in Dallas, Texas for a few years – then returned to Wichita Falls to raise their two children.
Betty loved to volunteer. She worked with the Bethania Hospital Auxiliary and the Wichita Falls General Auxiliary. She was a Camp Fire Leader, Cub Scout Den Mother, and a Room Mother. Betty was also a member of the Senior-Junior Forum.
Betty loved to stay active. She bowled on a league, played poker with her husband and another couple weekly, water skied, and snow skied. She had an insatiable appetite for books. She also had a soft spot for her dogs. Betty was always up for a trip – it didn’t matter if it was shopping at a mall in Dallas, taking pictures of the leaves changing on the east coast, or jetting out of the country.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Carrie Stephenson; husband, Ralph C Parker; brother, Hank Stephenson; and sister, Ollie Fay Pemberton.
She is survived by her daughter, Julie Parker; her son, Stephen Parker and his wife Lindsey, and their son Isak; sister, Jenny Killian; and nieces, Sherry Waagner, Karen Cummings, and Carrie Dishner.
You will always be in our thoughts and heart. In lieu of flowers, donations made in honor of Betty may be made to Children’s Aid Society of West Texas, Inc.
