Bertha spent her childhood years in Paris, Tx. She relocated to Wichita Falls, in her late teens. Shortly after moving to W. F. she began working at Wichita General Hospital, where she worked for many years. Bertha also worked for Levi Strauss for 20 years. Her last job that she loved most before retirement was Delphi, later known as General Motors, where she worked for 20 years.
Bertha met and married the love of her life, Henry Henderson in 1965 in Wichita Falls, Tx. To this union they had three beautiful Daughters, Barbara Dawkins, Brigitte Henderson and Yolanda Henderson. Bertha was a loving and caring Wife, Mom and Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend. She always greeted you with a beautiful smile, hug and word of endearment.
Bertha accepted Christ at a young age and was a lifetime member of Mt Pleasant Baptist Church. She served on several Auxiliaries during her fifty plus years at Mt Pleasant. She worked with Youth Department, decorating committee, Usher Board, Deacon Wives Committee and the Matron Circle. She was faithful in attendance until her health began to fail.
You could often find Bertha working in her yard, which she loved dearly. She and her late husband Henry, were nominated Yard of the month by the City of W.F. Also, she loved spending time fishing and would fish for hours. She could make a pound cake that would make you hurt yourself. Everything Bertha did, she did it with Love.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Henry Henderson, and their two daughters, Barbara Dawkins and Brigitte Henderson, along with her parents, and five siblings.
Bertha leaves to cherish her loving memories, her daughter, Yolanda Henderson Robinson (Amery) of Wichita Falls; four grandchildren, Ebonic Dawkins of Los Angeles, Ca, Kemesha Dawkins of Wichita Falls, Jasmine Dawkins of Los Angeles, Ca, and Kaemon Robinson of Wichita Falls, Sisters, Joyce (Richard) Johnson of Dayton, Ohio, Neva Forney (James) Alamogordo, NM, Eva Hawkins (Eddie) Oklahoma City, Ok, and Shirley Rosborough of Longview, Tx. Along with a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and many special friends.
