Amelia D. Boyd, 61, of Wichita Falls passed away Sunday, July 22, 2012 at Grace Care Center after a lengthy illness. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1400 Archer City Hwy., Wichita Falls. Interment will follow immediately in Crestview Memorial Park.
Amelia was born October 15, 1950 in San Roque, San Nicolas, Pangasinan, Philippines. After High School, she graduated from Zaragoza College, majoring in Computer and Secretarial Science. She later secured Foreign Country employment as a domestic worker in Hong Kong for the British Chief of Police. Two years later, Amelia returned to the Philippines and completed medical schooling to serve as a Midwife.
It was in Hong Kong that she met her future husband, Donald Boyd and they were married June 30, 1983 in her hometown of San Roque where they remained to begin construction of their home. After two years in Southern California and two years in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the family moved to Hawaii and made that home for fifteen years. In Hawaii, Amelia was introduced to Jehovah’s Witnesses by a relative and was baptized in 2001. In 2005, Amelia and family moved to Wichita Falls to be closer to her sister, Lilia and her husband’s elderly mother.
Amelia was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Donald Boyd; three sons, Thomas Boyd of Hawaii and Gordon Boyd and Dyron Boyd, both of Wichita Falls; one sister, Lilia of Wichita Falls; two other sisters, Villarose and Melilnda; four brothers, Rolito, Roberto, Romulo and Renaldo, all of the Philippines.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Rd., 76310.
