Bill is survived by his wife of 34 years, Rose Grieman, his daughter Tammy, his brothers Michael and Robert Jr (St. Paul, MN), his sister Suzette Monzel (Sarasota, FL), and numerous nieces and nephews, some who referred to him as “Uncle Commander”.
He is preceded in death by his father Robert Grieman, Sr. and his mother Loretta Grieman, née Stemig (St. Paul MN area).
Bill was born on May 3, 1943 in St. Paul, Minnesota and attended Wilson High School graduating with the class of 1961 prior to joining the Navy where he served for 28 years on 15 different ships while rising to rank of Gunner’s Mate Chief. Bill retired from the Navy on August 31, 1988.
Bill continued his dedication to his country with his very active involvement in the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States - Department of NJ, VFW Post #2179 in Middletown Township and District 6 in Monmouth County, NJ, where he received many awards and citations. Bill served two terms as District 6 Commander and one term as NJ State Commander of the VFW (2005-2006).
In his free time Bill enjoyed cooking, including making his family favorite cheesecake, watching sports, visiting with friends and family and driving his beloved bright red Dodge Charger. Bill was cherished by his wife, his family and friends, and all who knew him. He will forever remain in our hearts.
A visitation and funeral service for Bill will be held Wednesday, February 14, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 115 Lacey Road, Whiting, NJ 08759. A committal to include military honors will occur Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Brig Gen Wm. C. Doyle NJ Veterans Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Rd, Wrightstown, NJ 08652.
