Walter Lee Butters, 90, passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife Dolly and daughter Deva by his side. Walter was born in Watseka, Illinois, and lived there until he joined the Army. He met the love of his life in 1953 (a blind date) married and moved to Jackson in 1964 where he lived for 40 years before moving to Whiting, NJ. Walter worked for Wonder Bread as a mechanic for 27 years and retired in 1992. He volunteered for Jackson First Aide for 15 years and was a CPR instructor.
Walter leaves behind his loving wife Florence (Dolly) Butters of 66 years, five children: Deborah Cogill of Brick, NJ, Diane Butters of Whiting, NJ, Donna Fonseca and husband Carlos of Lakewood, NJ, Daniel Butters of Citra, FL, Deva Gelsleichter and husband Bill of Jackson, NJ; six grandchildren: James Cogill, Andrew Cogill, Kathleen Klein, Bill Gelsleichter, Sean Gelsleichter, Krystina Gelsleichter and five great grandchildren.
