Edward Charles Brahn, 74, of Whiting passed away on January 6, 2019. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sandra Atchley Brahn, his mother Mildred Brahn, his sister Ginny Cain, his sons and daughters-in-law James Brahn and Lisa Brahn, Daniel Brahn and Elisabeth Brahn, Barry Brahn and Amanda Brahn, and his grandchildren Jessica, Benjamin, and Carrie Brahn.
Ed was born in Lakewood and grew up in Island Heights; he moved to Whiting, NJ to raise his family. As a heavy equipment operator for the county, Ed helped build the infrastructure that supported the extensive growth of Ocean County during the 1970s and 1980s. Throughout his life, Ed was an avid hunter; later in life he also bought a small boat and enjoyed clamming in the bay. As his grandkids came along, Ed was an active babysitter and enjoyed sharing his unique knowledge, skills and hobbies. Most recently, Ed also enjoyed building model planes, boats, and extensive model railroad lines. Ed is remembered for both his generosity to his family and his direct manner.
His family will gather for services at the Christ Lutheran Church in Whiting at 10:00am on Thursday, January 17, 2019.
