Beloved husband of Deb. Loving father of Jennifer (Philippe) Rio and Elizabeth (Jason) Brown. Proud grandfather of Ellie and Liliana. Dear brother of Tom (Jeannine) Schilling and brother-in-law of George Klosterman. Richard is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews, as well as friends. Richard was preceded in passing by his first wife, Patricia, his sister, Jayne Klosterman, and his parents, Adolf and Helen Schilling.
Richard was born on October 20th, 1952. He grew up in Detroit and graduated from Redford High School. He was a longtime employee of Contractors Steel Co., where he worked as a burn department manager. He met many lifelong friends there, before retiring after over 30 years with the company.
Richard’s greatest loves were his family and friends. He was someone that could always be counted on by those that knew him. He adored both of his granddaughters and was excited to welcome another one in a few short months. He also enjoyed working on many house and car projects over the years. He was the “go-to” handyman and knew how to fix just about anything. He will be dearly missed by everyone that knew him.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, October 17, 2022 at the Union Lake Chapel of the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 1233 Union Lake Road in White Lake. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, October 16, 2022 from 1:00pm until 7:00pm.
