Joan Beverly Cole

Joan Beverly Cole, age 77, of White Lake, Michigan passed away on March 5, 2019. Beloved wife of the late Byron Cole, loving mother of Andrea (Lynn) Fyhrlund, Lisa (the late Konrad) Dobrott and Julie (Oliver) Calhoun, grandmother of Taylor and Molly Fyhrlund, sister of Neil (Walta) Huard and the late James (Cyndie Cain) Huard. Joan was proud to be a stay-at-home mom while the family was in partnership as owners of Sterling Schwinn Cyclery. She re-entered the workforce as an administrative assistant for GM Truck and Bus in Pontiac in the early 1980s. She then worked for several years before retiring from the City of Walled Lake. With a charitable heart she volunteered her time to various causes including her church and Open Door Outreach Center. In 2018 she was awarded the Oakland County, Michigan volunteer of the year award for her work at Open Door. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Waterford and when not volunteering she enjoyed spending time with her many good friends and road tripping to see her grandchildren. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 10, 2019 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Union Lake Chapel of the Elton Black and Son Funeral Home, 1233 Union Lake Rd., White Lake, MI 48386. The funeral service will be on Monday, March 11, 2019 at 12:00 at Christ Lutheran Church, 5987 Williams Lake Rd., Waterford, MI 48329. Rev. Peggy A. Rose will officiate. Lunch will follow. Memorial donations may be made to Open Door Outreach Center in Commerce Township or to Christ Lutheran Church in Waterford.
