He is survived by Julie Hilliker, daughter Amy Kline, brothers Mike Poole (wife Pam) and Pat Poole (wife Maureen), sisters Anne Peck and Shannon Poole and many nephews and nieces. Tim was predeceased by his mother Helen Poole, father Robert Poole, and brother Terry Poole.
Tim was a mechanic by trade and excelled at his craft. He began at an early age by taking apart his brother’s car motor and putting it back together just to see how it worked when he was about 10 years old. He worked as an auto mechanic as a young adult for several years then moved on to being a bowling machine mechanic at Holiday Lanes bowling center for about 30 years. He was also an excellent bowler, averaging over 200 for many years with 4 perfect (300) games and 2 800 series’ in competition before medical conditions caused him to put away his bowling equipment. In 1984 while working at Holiday Lanes he met Julie Hilliker, her son Jared had skipped school to go bowling where Tim was coaching him.
Tim’s passion though, was working on and racing his pride and joy 1986 Ford Thunderbird. He raced at Bandimere Speedway for over 50 years and won several trophies for his efforts. Julie joined him drag racing in 1985 at Bandimere where with her 1971 Ford Mustang, they continued to race through the 2022 season. Julie also won many awards over those years. He also received a call from an engineer at the Ford Assembly Plant asking him how to fix a problem with the 302 engine (his T-Bird motor) to keep from recalling many of their vehicles which used this engine. The engineer heard from the racing community that Tim had solved the problem and wanted his input on how to fix the problem.
Tim was also a great neighbor, as a bowling lane mechanic he helped other lane mechanics all over the area, and the world (one of which was in Australia another in Europe) with their machine problems. As an auto mechanic, he helped coworkers, neighbors and family with any of their car repairs. The kids around the neighborhood would come to Tim to fix their toys and bikes because he knew everything about them. Then during the winter months, using his snow blower he would clean snow off the sidewalks and driveways in the neighborhood. Bob Scott, Tim’s very close friend, helped him in all of his endeavors whenever he could.
Tim loved his Bronco’s. As a fan even during all of the lean years, he would be in front of the TV watching his team, rooting them on and texting Amy his daughter about how good or more recently how terrible they are playing, looking forward to more good years.
