Terrell Googe, age 52, of Lakewood, Colorado, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2022, after an extended hospital stay, he had battled with complications from sepsis, diabetes, and other health concerns.
Terrell was the firstborn to Tom and Linda Googe on August 2, 1969 in Wareham, Massachusetts. Terrell and the Googe family lived in Massachusetts, Florida, Illinois, and California. Terrell went to West High School in Rockford, Illinois, but ultimately graduated from Sylmar High School in 1987. Terrell was an athlete, playing football and baseball since he was 6 years old. Sports had always been a passion for Terrell. Terrell was popular and outgoing, and maintained friendships with classmates for his entire life. In his senior year, he was voted “Most Likely to Join the Circus” in his Sylmar High School yearbook. After graduation, Terrell went to Pierce College in Woodland Hills, California, and studied Communications and played football. Terrell was recruited by Valley College in Van Nuys, California; he continued his Communications studies and continued playing football. Terrell suffered a career-ending knee injury during a football game. Terrell went on to study Sports Broadcasting at Ohio Center for Broadcasting in Lakewood, Colorado. Terrell was blessed and proud to have been coached by his dad at Sylmar High School.
Terrell was a hard worker in the commercial construction industry as a superintendent for many years, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfathers. He worked on many projects in numerous states and made many friends along the way.
Terrell was a Christian and went to church at Red Rocks Church in Golden, Littleton, and Lakewood for the last 14 years. Over the years, Terrell participated in many fundraising events, including Race for the Cure (breast cancer walk/run); he volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House, which he was a superintendent of construction at the time, he was also involved with the Red Rocks Sports Ministry.
Terrell is missed by his family, including his parents-Linda and Tom Googe, brother-Derek, sister-Kim, Stacy, , DJ, Dominic, Alyson (Mitch). Laurel, Arwyn, Abel, Axel, and Ryder, Steve and Barb Googe, Grandma Kitchens, his godparents-Teresa and Terry Mattingly, and Gwen/Hobo and Tim Hatfield, and numerous aunts (including his Great Aunt Margaret), uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Terrell is preceded in death by his grandparents Jesse L. and Edith Googe,Frazier and Opal Davis and adopted brothers-Jake and Jesse Robinson, and his name-sake uncle-Glenn Garlitz. We can only imagine the heavenly reunion they had.
