Simon Oliver Adams, Jr. died just after 1am on Saturday, April 13, 2019 from complications of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). PSP is an extremely rare Parkinsonian neurological disease that is diagnosed by abnormal eye movements and frequent falls. It is a cruel, relentless disease that must be cured. Donations can be made in lieu of flowers at www.psp.org.
Simon went by “Sy” to nearly everyone that knew him, unless you were lucky enough to know him in his childhood, in which case his name was “Sonny”. Sy was a man of many talents - infant circus act trainer, greasy-spoon aficionado, successless gambler, and, of course, the world’s leading expert in dining, dancing, wining, and romancing. In his career, he pushed papers with the best of ‘em in the Air Force and then went on to be a master carpenter and later, a professional complaint-handler for the City of Aurora. He loved movies and great restaurants and Las Vegas and fast cars and the circus. And he loved the people around him.
Though he never took himself too seriously, he was always serious about being the best man that he could be. His involvement in Cherry Hills Community Church and the Promise Keepers organization encouraged him to live his faith every day. Well done, good and faithful servant.
He is survived by his wife, Kris, his son, Matt, and his siblings, Delores and Bill. His memory will live on with every friend he ever helped, every life he ever touched, and every person with whom he shared his easy laugh. We will miss him every day.
