August 17, 1924 - July 7, 2021
Pascual M. LeDoux, 96, preceded in death by his wife, Lucy G. LeDoux and eldest son Pascual LeDoux Jr. Survived by Ted (Nancy), Don, Darlene (Rene), Chris (Valentino) and Connie (Jim), nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Born and raised in Las Vegas, NM alongside a blended family after the death of his mother at an early age. Pascual and his four brothers and sisters inherited two step-siblings when his father remarried and later welcomed three half-siblings. He also considered foster children who grew up in his home his family.
Pascual proudly served his country in WWII in the U.S. Navy. His father had to sign for him since he was only 17 when he joined. He served in the South Pacific for three years on the U.S.S. Mobjack, a PT Boat Tender, as a Torpedoman Mate Third Class and Chief Petty Officer. He received the Asiatic-Pacific 1 Bronze Star, American Area, Philippine Liberation 1 Bronze Star, and the Victory Medal World War II.
As fate would have it, the day Pascual returned from the Navy to Las Vegas, NM, he met his soon-to-be-wife, Lucy Maestas. He got off the bus at midnight, still in uniform, and walked into the El Rialto Club. And according to him, Lucy took one look at him, the handsome man in uniform, and never let go.
Pascual and Lucy began their long life together. They got married and had three sons in New Mexico then decided to head west to find work in the “big city,” Denver. Once in Denver, they had two daughters, completing their family of seven.
Pascual worked as a baker on the night shift for over 30 years. After his retirement from the bakery, he worked in Denver Public Schools as a custodian until he fully retired.
As a proud veteran, he continued to serve his country and community as the commander of VFW Post 2797. Pascual and his wife Lucy were dedicated to the VFW, Cub Scouts, St. Cajetan Catholic Church and served as mentors to many family and community members. Pascual and Lucy were married for 56 years until her death in 2002.
Pascual’s strong work ethic – which he passed on to his children – began at an early age. As a child, to add a stream of income for his family, he sold ice door-to-door out of a wagon. During his time in the Navy, he sent all his checks home to his family to help them financially. In his later years, he was a self-proclaimed “businessman,” who frequented yard sales and re-sold the goods at twice the price. He later decided that instead of selling, he would give items away as gifts to his loved ones.
His proudest achievement was his children, their service to the community and their growing families. Some of his most fond memories were of his time among the orchard fruit trees in Anton Chico, NM, his trips to casinos and his summers in Rociada, NM. Pascual cherished his family, faithfully believed in God and was well known for his generosity to those in need.
As he aged, his family organized a care schedule, including daytime and nighttime support in his home. A special thanks to his loving caregivers: His daughters Darlene and Chris; his sons Ted and Don, his granddaughters Alex and Andrea; his son-in-law, best friend and “business partner” Valentino Garcia; his niece who provided care and love throughout his final year Kathy Winter; his great-niece and God-daughter Ronda Roybal; Olga Thurston; April Baxter; Marie Vigil; Linda Muniz; Christine Jaramillo; Barbara Pollock-Walker; Crystal Valenzuela; Lavern Maez; Paul Gallegos. There were many others who demonstrated their love for Pascual throughout his life, and we sincerely thank you.
Services will be held on Thursday, July 15. The rosary will begin at 10 a.m. and the funeral will begin at 11 a.m. at St. Cajetan Catholic Church (299 S. Raleigh, Denver, CO 80219). The services will be followed by his burial at Olinger Crown Hill (7777 W. 29th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033). The reception will follow the burial and be held at the VFW Post 501 (4747 W. Colfax Ave., Denver, CO 80204).
