Donald L Hartung

Don Hartung was born on April 12, 1925 in Denver, Colorado to Lothar and Lena Hartung and passed away on November 25, 2015 at Littleton Adventist Hospital. Don graduated from Englewood High School and Barnes Business College. He was a gentle man with many talents and abilities. In his pre-teen years, Don tap-danced with his younger brother, providing entertainment at several local clubs, where he earned and framed his "first dollar".

Don worked in the poultry business with his Dad and , in the evenings, as a professional musician. He played drums with The Denver Symphony, several dance bands and combos, and at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre with the Sigmund Romberg Concert Orchestra. Don then moved on to become manager of the Poultry Research Station at CSU in Fort Collins, Colorado. After ten years, he returned to Denver and pursued machinist training at Opportunity School and worked in Quality Control as a mechanical inspector for Honeywell Corporation, until they phased out their Photographic Products Division.

He then went to Wilkerson Corporation as a Quality Control mechanical inspector until his retirement at age 62.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 57 years, Pauline Simpson Hartung. He is survived by his loving companion and best friend, Elma Woodcock; his brother, Ted (Jody) Hartung of Lincoln, Nebraska; nephews, Chris (Tammi) Hartung of Canon City, Colorado; Rob (Leslie) Hartung of Bennington, Nebraska; Hal (Carol) Simpson of Centennial, Colorado; and Les (Bev) Simpson of Houston, Texas; nieces, Charlene Lawson of Kiowa, Kansas and Debbie (David) Stithem of Broken Bow, Nebraska; and numerous grand-nieces and nephews.

Don was a wonderful man. We loved him beyond measure and will miss him always.
