Diane attended University Park Elementary, Grant Junior High and South High School in Denver, CO. She then went on to Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts and held a Master’s in Education from the University of Denver.
Diane taught elementary school for 20 years, mainly for Jefferson County School District. She volunteered at the Denver Visitor's Bureau for years.
She also traveled throughout the United States and to many countries around the world. She remained in touch with her South High School class of 1953 classmates for yearly reunions. She also loved her potluck group that remained friends from the late 1950's to present, and her Mount Holyoke friends with whom she enjoyed many reunions.
Diane enjoyed sewing, needlepoint, reading, spending time with friends and family, hockey and football, music, and travel. She always kept a beautiful garden. She had an appreciation for western art and collected an extensive Kachina collection. She and her husband, Chuck, had season tickets to DU Hockey, Colorado Ballet, Colorado Opera, and the Colorado Symphony Orchestra.
Diane loved to hear and tell jokes, and loved to laugh! Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joys.
She was diligent about staying in touch with friends from all walks of life.
She is survived by her children, Judy Olson (James) of Littleton, CO; Bob Henry (Sherri) of Kent, Washington, and her cousin, Foncey Jennings Taylor, of Laramie, Wyoming. She will beloved and missed by her grandchildren as well as many other family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Please check back later for more information.
