David C Evans was born February 14, 1939, in McDade, Texas to Sylvester L Evans Sr. and Malissa Houston Evans and departed this life on November 9, 2021. He was the youngest of three children with a brother Sylvester L Evans Jr. and sister Robbie Evans (Williams) both of whom preceded him in passing. Being that his father was a minister, he received Christ as his savior at a very early age.
Throughout his life he attended and served in the church in many capacities ranging from Sunday School teacher to deacon in several locations. His most recent church home was Grace Presbyterian Church in Houston, Texas where he served as a Sunday School instructor and enjoyed fellowship with the congregation.
Additionally, his service extended to a career in the military defending his country. He joined the U.S. Marines during his senior year of high school and served his country for more than 27 years in the U.S. Air Force, achieving the rank of Colonel. His military assignments included tours throughout the country including Washington, D.C. at the Pentagon and foreign tours to Vietnam and Italy. After his military career, he served as the CEO of a technology company.
In college, he was an academic All-American football player majoring in chemistry. After graduation, he signed with the Denver Broncos football team and later was enshrined in the Southern University Sports Hall of Fame.
While his favorite pastimes were going to the movies and watching football, most important to him was his love for his family. He is survived by sons Mike (Ramona) and Chris (Nikki) and seven grandchildren: Taylor, Latiah (Dominique), Gavin, Morgan, Tori, Jordan, Kaley and Tyhaunnie and one great-grandchild, Ozzie. He also leaves behind cherished nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
His final resting place will be at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
