Clifford Ray Walker 88 of Westminster, Colo. passed away on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023. Cliff was born on March 5, 1934 in Pawnee, Oklahoma to Ray & Alice Walker. His family moved to Durango when Cliff was a child. He grew up with 5 brothers and 2 sisters. There he developed his lifelong love of hunting, fishing, camping and being outdoors in the beautiful Colorado Mountains he loved.
Cliff later moved to Denver where he married Morreen on Jan. 25, 1964. They raised their combined family in their Westminster home for 60 years. Cliff & Morreen recently moved to the Ralston Creek Neighborhood Senior Community in Arvada, where Morreen still resides.
He was a very talented carpenter and loved to work with wood. He used his skills at various jobs he held over the years which included: working at a lumber yard & for various home builders. He retired from U.S.Home in 1996.
Cliff & Morreen were life-long members of the Westminster Elks Lodge #2227. They enjoyed many years of dinner and dancing. (They were both GREAT dancers).
It didn’t take Cliff long to start enjoying his retirement years with camping, fishing and hunting. They owned several campers over the years but when they purchased their motorhome they really took off. When they weren’t off camping in the mountains, they were visiting their kids (Dad was always helping his kids on a home remodeling project). They wintered in Lake Havasu, Arizona with Cliff’s sister Bess (Cliff was always ready & willing for a new project every year).
When they were not traveling, Dad kept busy at home. He was either building or fixing something at the house, or for friends & family. Walking into their home you could see his craftsmanship everywhere. Anything Mom asked him to build was built with love (kitchen cabinets, end tables, entertainment center, display shelves for Mom’s plate collection & so many more).
Come evening you could always find him around the “Puzzle Table” (he made several of them for family & friends). It was around a puzzle we all gathered, either at their house or at our yearly family reunions. Due to Dad’s love of puzzling, we have all gotten “HOOKED”. He continued puzzling until the day he passed.
Cliff was predeceased by his parents (Ray & Alice Walker); (siblings Violet, Duane, Delbert, LeRoy & Ernie); his daughter Nancy, her husband Gregg & Isaiah Piller (their infant son); and son-in-law Kerry (Lynda) Laird.
Cliff is survived by his wife, Morreen; son, Randy (Diane) Walker of Gothenburg, NE; daughter, Karen (Vernon) Owens of Richland, WA; son, Rick (Nicki) Turner of Buckeye, AZ; daughter, Lynda Laird of Westminster, CO; daughter, Cindy (Dave) James of Denver, CO; 10 grandkids, 28 great grandkids, 3 great-great grandkids and 2 siblings: Bess Terrell & Bobbie (Suzie) Walker.
