Carolyn L. Warrick

Carolyn Warrick, age 90, of Olathe, Colorado, passed away July 30, 2012, at Harmony Pointe Care Center in Lakewood, Colorado. Carolyn was born to Hubert and Ellen Burdick in Hotchkiss, Colorado on October 2, 1921. She spent her entire life in Colorado. She graduated from Olathe High School in 1939 and attended Mesa Jr. College and Western State College. She married Leon Warrick, also from Olathe, on September 15, 1946. They lived on a farm west of Olathe where they raised their four children. Carolyn worked in the Olathe schools and Leon was a farmer and school bus driver. After Leon’s unexpected death on July 1, 1979, Carolyn moved to Montrose where she continued her teaching career until her retirement in 1984. She lived in Montrose until 2002, and then moved to Denver to be closer to her four children. She lived in an assisted living community until 2011, when she moved to Harmony Pointe Care Center, due to her declining health.

She enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens, was an avid reader, enjoyed needlepoint and was very active in both the Olathe and Montrose Methodist Churches. She sang in the choir, participated in the bell choir and played the organ and piano. She was an active member in many organizations within the church, school and the communities.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon, her brother, Keith Burdick, and her sisters, Shirley Olsen and Winifred Hollyfield.

Surviving family members include her four children: Quinn (Patricia), Lynne (Stanley Jones), Cheryl (Donald Bruns) and Kevin all of whom live in the Denver area. She has four grandchildren: Kristin Warrick of Thornton, CO, Kimberly Warrick of Northglenn, CO, David Wright (Raquel) of Salvador, Brazil, and Danae Wright-Ivanovic (Blazo) of Brentwood, CA . She also has many nieces and nephews.

You are invited to a graveside service at the Olathe Cemetery on Tuesday, August 21, at 1:00 p.m. Following the service, a celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held at the Montrose Methodist Church at 19 S. Park Avenue from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Please share your memories of Carolyn’s life with us on August 21. 2012.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Methodist Churches in Montrose and Olathe.
