The Lord has called our father home after 62 memorable years on this earth. Bradford Bell was an amazing man of God, husband to his wife Nancy of 36 years (7 days short of 37 years), father to Steven and Ricky, and coach and mentor to hundreds of baseball and basketball players throughout his 32+ years of coaching.
Brad was getting ready to celebrate his 37th wedding anniversary on August 20th, 2020 and his 63rd birthday on October 25th, 2020. After battling with congestive heart failure for multiple years and liver damage, Bradford Bell passed away on August 13th, 2020.
He was a phenomenal coach, who did so at all levels of competition (whether it be tee ball, YMCA basketball, competitive youth sports, middle school, high school, or the collegiate level). He helped players develop and improve upon athletic skills to the best of their God-given abilities. He always said basketball was a thinking man's game and taught his players the in's and out's of his "ZERO (0)" offense. He coached for the love of the game (both baseball and basketball). He coached for the joy he brought to his players. Every time Brad stepped on the basketball floor or the baseball diamond, he was there to make his players better. That is exactly the kind of coach he was. He taught his players to lead by example and that hard work always paid off. He gave young men a baseline to become great men.
Brad coached teams to state championships, league championships, and even a Triple Crown World Series title for his beloved Wheat Ridge Heat team. He poured his heart and soul into each one of his teams and every player that played for him would say the same thing.
Bradford Bell was an amazing leather craftsmen since a young age, and was an active member in the Columbine Leather Guild. He loved using those skills to help baseball and softball players by fixing and re-lacing hundreds of baseball and softball gloves.
Brad has touched the lives of so many families and there is a big hole in our lives left due to his absence.
We know that the Coronavirus pandemic presents numerous challenges to your family at this time, but be assured that donating to this memorial for Brad Bell goes a very long way to alleviate the stresses associated with losing a loved one. Any donation will help cover the cost of medical bills and funeral expenses. Any donation raised past the goal will be given to Wheat Ridge Area Baseball in Brad's name. Brad coached multiple youth Wheat Ridge Baseball teams in his coaching career and we know he would love to give back to the organization that brought him so many great memories. I know it would bring great joy and a big smile to his face to be able to make that donation.
Some quotes he loved from John Wooden:
"Be more concerned with your character than your reputation."
"Play for the name on the front of your jersey, not the back."
Memorial service will be held at Crown Hill on Wednesday, August 19 at 10am.
