Leonard Joseph Melanson of Ashmore, passed away peacefully Sunday Nov. 6, 2022 with his family by his side. Born January 28, 1938, he was a son of Maude Melanson (Comeau) and Herbert Melanson. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Bernice (Brewster); daughters, Deborah (Glen) Bonnyville, Alberta, Brenda (Annette) Berwick NS, and son Michael (Wanda) Ashmore NS; estranged grandson, Stephen Miller; granddaughters, Christina Melanson, Alexandria Bailey and 2 great-grandchildren. Leonard is predeceased by brothers, Eugene, Edward, James and sisters, Irene (Fred Brown), Marie (John Pettipas) and Mildred. He worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator, dad was known for his beautiful vegetable gardens and was very proud of his potatoes every year. He loved a good dart game and watching the Blue Jays play. Dad could tell a good story and have you in stitches. The family would like to thank the staff at Digby General Hospital for their kindness and care of our father. Thank you to a very special friend, Delma LeBlanc who was there to support him throughout his journey. Donations in memory may be made to the Diabetes or Cancer Society. Visitation will be held Wednesday November 9, 2-4 and 6-8 with funeral service Thursday November 10, 11am all from Jayne's Funeral Home, Weymouth North. Burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Plympton.
