She leaves behind her husband of 60 years, Bruce W. Lord; her two children, Matt Lord of Houston and Jennifer Lord Paluzzi and her husband, Steven Paluzzi, of Grafton; her sister, Jennifer O’Connell; and five grandchildren, Alex Lord of Houston, David Paluzzi of Billerica, Megan Paluzzi of Newton, Nick Lord of Houston, and Ava Lord.
Mom grew up in Osterville on Cape Cod, graduating from Barnstable High School. While attending the University of Massachusetts, she began a romance with my father, and they skipped graduation ceremonies to get married.
After trying on life as a stay-at-home mom, she returned to the workforce in the 1970s, first to the Bellingham School Department and then to a series of environmental companies that used super critical water technologies to clean up toxic waste sites. She then embarked on a career as the go-to person for start-up entrepreneurs, setting up multiple companies; establishing offices, personnel policies, and various financial needs; and ultimately shutting them down.
She received many many stock options, but only one company was ultimately successful on its own, other were merged with larger companies
She loved summers in Ogunquit and Cape Cod spoiling her grandchildren; traveling with my dad; and many many many books.
She was a Bellingham Library Trustee for many years, participating in the building of the town library on Blackstone Street. She went to multiple Democratic State Conventions as a delegate, along with my father.
She was a woman who was convinced all cats were girls and all dogs were boys, despite frequent corrections.
During the Blizzard of ‘78, while hundreds were stranded on the highways, my mother passed car after car on 495 in an ugly and noisy Gran Torino known as “The Bomb” to successfully make it all the way home from Framingham.
She was a mom unlike any other moms and a splendid role model.
Memorials will likely be private, as our family is tiny.
