Gladys Marie McCary

Mrs. Gladys Marie McCary, 82, formerly of Augusta County, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, February 19, 2012.
Gladys was born in Wheelock, Texas on June 18, 1929 to Lee and Marie Sodek Lys. She proudly served her country in the US Air Force during the Korean War and worked as a Registered Nurse for many years. She became a member of First Baptist Church, Bryan, Texas after returning to Brazos County in 1998.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, E. W. McCary in 1996 and daughter, Taylor Lys McCary in 2004.
She leaves behind two sons, Bill McCary and wife Dixie of Medina, Ohio and their children, Eddie, Kelly and Charlie; and Mark McCary and wife Mandy of Marble Falls, Texas and their children, Anne and Kate. Also surviving are her older sister, Elsie Jones of Greenville, Texas and younger brother, Robert Lys of Navasota, Texas.
Friends may call after 12:00 noon on Saturday at the Lindsey Weyers Cave Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 pm Saturday, February 25, 2012 at the Funeral Home. The casket will be closed.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 Sunday afternoon, February 26, 2012 in the Middle River Church of the Brethren Cemetery with Pastor David Ball officiating.
The family requests donations be made in memory of Gladys to Brazos Valley Hospice Inpatient Facility, 502 W. 26th St., Bryan, TX 77803 or to First Baptist Church, 3100 Cambridge Dr., Bryan, TX 77802.
