Audrey Link Shreckhise

Audrey Link Shreckhise, 93 years, of Bridgewater Retirement Community and formerly of Weyers Cave, died on Saturday morning, November 25, 2017. She was born December 6, 1923, daughter of the late Lester R. and Oda M. Link in Mt. Sidney, Virginia.

On February 13, 1943, Audrey married James M. Shreckhise in Hattiesburg, Mississippi while he was preparing to go overseas during World War II and was, thus, a war bride. Jim preceded her in death, as well as her two siblings, Lester R. Link, Jr. and Ellen Link Emswiler.

Audrey was a long time member of Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren where she was a member of the Dorcas Circle and Women’s fellowship group.

Audrey spent many years helping her husband with the book work in his landscaping business. She loved taking care of and being with her family. She was a wonderful cook and had a passion for gardening, needlepoint, and other handwork.

Audrey is survived by her daughter Rebecca Shreckhise Finne, and her husband Charles, her son James L. Shreckhise and his wife, Rebecca.

Audrey loved and was so proud of her four grandchildren and their spouses, Charles “Chad” Finne (Stephanie), Brandon Shreckhise (Jennifer), Maggie S. Wilkins (Chad), and Trent Shreckhise (Kelsey). She was delighted by her great grandchildren, Ozzy Finne, Emmett Shreckhise, and Vivian Wilkins.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 2 o’clock at Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren in Weyers Cave with Pastor Daniel House officiating. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be private.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the home of her son, Jim Shreckhise in Weyers Cave.
