Avery, Curtis Tyler was born September 4, 1983 in Estevan, Saskatchewan to Katherine and Calvin Avery. Curtis passed away on August 27, 2011 at the age of 27 years. He attended elementary school in Estevan, moved to Midale and attended the school there before transferring to Weyburn Comprehensive Highschool. In his childhood Curtis was a member of the Cubs and Scouts. He enjoyed everything the outdoors had to offer him, riding his bike on many trails, fishing, snowmobiling, and he especially “loved a fire.” Curtis took many camping and fishing trips with his family and friends, including a trip to Duck Mountain, Manitoba and Kane Lake Lodge in Northern Saskatchewan. Curtis also went to Niagara Falls with his cousins. Friends and family were the most important part of his life and he enjoyed their company and getting together with them. He had a love for technology, chatting on his cell phone- though he seemed to always lose it, staying in touch with friends on the computer, and snapping pictures at every opportunity. Curtis always seemed to have an aquarium set up and had a loving bond with his dog, Jinx. He adored Gabriel and Charlotte and he had a special relationship with them as “Uncle”. Curtis was very thoughtful and caring; he was empathetic and always willing to help his friends and family, and even share in their pain through hard times. He loved life, loved to joke, and was proud to be Irish. His sense of humour was like none other, he loved to make people laugh even if they didn’t think it was funny. Curtis prided himself on keeping up to date with current events, and what was happening in the world. Family was the center of his world, and he will be fondly remembered and missed dearly. Left to mourn are Curtis’ parents, Calvin Avery of Stoughton, SK. and Katherine Avery of Weyburn, SK.; one brother, Brad (Shelley) Avery of Midale, SK.; one nephew, Gabriel Graham Avery and one niece, Charlotte Rose Avery; special friend Jacqui Oesch as well as numerous cousins, relatives and friends. Curtis was predeceased by his grandparents, Thomas Maxwell, Elda Agnes Maxwell, Cyril John Avery and Elsie Elizabeth Avery; aunts, Judith Dianne Ruckaber and Norma Avery; uncle, Grant Avery and an infant cousin, Hudson Avery.
A Memorial Service was held at The Royal Canadian Legion, Weyburn, Saskatchewan on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at 2:30pm with a wake that followed Sunday, September 4, 2011 at 6:00pm from the Milestone Bar, Milestone, SK. Interment will take place at a later date.
Arrangements under the direction of Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, SK.
