Rose Lucille (Bottaro) Cecere, 92, of Wethersfield, beloved wife of 41 years of the late Thomas G. Cecere, passed away surrounded by her loving children on Tuesday, March 16, 2021. Born in Hartford on December 13, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Rosa (Aniello) Bottaro. Rose was a graduate of Hartford Public High School and was co-owner of Butcher Boy Meat Market in East Hartford along with her husband Tom for over 20 years. After selling Butcher Boy Meat Market, she was a bookkeeper and retired from Gardner’s Nursery in Rocky Hill. She was an avid painter and enjoyed coffee around the table with numerous family and friends, especially her lifelong friend Dee Callis, who was like a sister.
A loving and devoted mother and grandmother, Rose will be forever missed by her four children: Christopher Cecere of North Palm Beach, Florida, Paul Cecere of Santa Cruz, CA, Tina (Cecere) Levine and husband Robert of Middlefield, Dr. Joseph Cecere of Mystic, and her two adored grandchildren Kara and Jack Levine. She is also survived by her brother, Jack “Jake” Bottaro and wife Carole of Cheshire, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. In addition to her husband and parents, Rose was predeceased by her sister, Anna Garrity and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Salvatore and Mary Bottaro and Joseph and Ann Bottaro.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 23rd at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Calling hours for family and friends will be on Monday, March 22nd from 4-6 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. Masks must be worn for all services and social distancing and attendance guidelines will be strictly adhered to.
