Paul J. Pavano, 83, of Manchester, beloved husband of Joan (Bellody) Pavano for 64 years, died peacefully Sunday, June 26, 2016 with his loving family by his side after a long, courageous battle with ALS. Born in Hartford on July 25, 1932, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Theresa (Caracciolo) Pavano. Paul was very proud of his Italian heritage, having been raised in the Front Street area of Hartford. He always looked forward to his monthly breakfast with his friends from the old East Side. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving during the Korean War. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and also enjoyed watching the UCONN men’s and women’s basketball teams. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Paul is survived by his devoted wife, Joan; daughter, Leisa Guiliano and husband Gary and his adored grandson, Alexander J. Guiliano, all of Broad Brook. He is also survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert and Debby Bellody of South Windsor, John and Agnes Bellody of Niantic, Agnes Bellody of South Windsor, Nila and Al Maulucci of South Windsor, Beverly Bellody and husband Chris Gayson of Tolland and Nick and Paula Bellody of Vernon, as well as many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Paul’s friends and neighbors, Mary and Jeff Metheny and Karen Krijak, as well as Dr. Felice and his ALS team at the Hospital of Special Care in New Britain and the team of doctors and nurses at the West Haven ALS clinic. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, William Bellody.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Luke’s Church, 66 Bolton Street, Hartford. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Entombment with military honors will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
