Michael A. Baio, Sr., 79, of Wethersfield, loving husband of Barbara A. (Ruff) Baio, died, Thursday (September 25, 2008). He was born August 6, 1929, in Hartford and was the son of the late Salvatore and Assunta (Pezzullo) Baio. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired several years ago from the CT Spring and Stamping Company, Farmington. He was active in the former St. Augustine Boys Brigade. Michael was a longtime member and former treasurer of the Italian American Home. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #1308 of Rocky Hill/Wethersfield, the American Legion, and was a past president of AARP Newington Chapter 697. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Michael A. Baio, Jr, Robert Baio and Kirk Russell; four daughters, Phyllis Baio, Donna D'Onofrio, Lisa Tillotson and Michelle Powers; three brothers, James, Anthony and Dominic; a sister Mary McCuin; nine grandchildren, Alaina, Michael, Amber, Ozzie, Casey, Samantha, Brooke, Meghan and Emma; a great-granddaughter Adrianna; as well as several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Angeline (Prete) Baio and his brothers, Angelo and Frank Baio. Funeral service will be Tuesday, at 9 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Wethersfield. The burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford with full Military Honors. Calling hours are Monday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
