Maria Elizabeth (Sycz) Woznica, 92, of Wethersfield, CT passed away peacefully, on Saturday, January 2, 2021. Born in Kurylowka, Poland, July 13, 1928, to the late Marcin and Rozalia (Cwikla) Sycz. She was the beloved wife of the late Walter Woznica for 47 years. Maria and Walter immigrated to the U.S. in 1961, with their children and settled in Hartford CT. She worked at Royal Typewriter and went on to retire from Loctite Corp.
Maria was a longtime parishioner of SS. Cyril & Methodius Church of Hartford and was very dedicated to her faith. She was an active member of their Rosary Society and the Ladies Guild. She was also a member of the Polish National Alliance, Lodge 464 and the Polish Woman’s Alliance.
Maria especially loved the holidays. She will always be remembered as being the happiest, when the table was surrounded by her family she adored and treasured. We will miss her dearly.
Devoted mother to her children; Dr. Zbigniew Woznica and his wife Dr. Margaret Woznica, Casimir Woznica and his wife Wendy, Joseph Woznica and his wife Joyce, Wiesia Kennedy, Teresa Madrazo and her husband Raymond, grandmother to Dr. David Woznica, Samantha Woznica, Alexander Woznica, Dr. Timothy Kennedy, Marla Kennedy, Dr. Alicia Kennedy, Sara Kennedy, Thalia Osbourn, Casimir Woznica Jr., Elizabeth Woznica and Lauren Woznica. She also leaves her cherished nine great-grandchildren, Giovanni, Elijah, Sammy, Christian, Mariana, Abel, Rhys, Everly & Emma. Maria was predeceased by her brother Albert Sycz, a sister, Aniela Turziak and her son-in-law Timothy Kennedy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at SS Cyril and Methodius Church, 55 Charter Oak Avenue, Hartford. Followed with a burial at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford CT. Masks and social distancing guidelines will be followed.
Drive through calling hours will be held on Monday, January 11, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard.
