Joseph Romano, 74, of Hartford, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2021 at Middlesex Hospital. Born on March 26, 1947 in Floridia, Province of Siracusa, Sicily, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Concetta (Ierna) Romano.
Joseph served his country honorably in the United States Army, after which he earned an Associate’s Degree from Capital Community College. He worked various jobs in the greater Hartford area and was a member of the Hartford Masons, Sphinx Shriners Legion of Honor, Knights Templar and the VFW Post 14000. His true passion though, was in his artwork and he created many timeless pieces to be enjoyed by his family and friends for years to come.
Joseph will be sadly missed by a son, Salvatore Romano of California; a daughter, Elysa Romano Bazoge and her husband Cedric of Texas along with his beloved granddaughter, Zoe Bazoge. Joseph also leaves his sister, Enza Ksiazek and her husband Theodore “Ted” of Middletown and Joanne Romano of Hartford as well as his niece, Jessica Ksiazek and nephews, Salvatore “Sal” Romano, Sebastiano “Sebby” Romano and Antonio “Tony” Romano, along with two very close friends, Michael and Jackie and several other extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, Joseph was predeceased by his brother, Anthony Romano.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday (April 30th) at St. James Church (St. Josephine Bakhita Parish) 767 Elm St., Rocky Hill, CT. Everyone is asked to please meet directly at the church. Burial with military honors will take place privately in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd, Wethersfield.
