Born in Hartford on May 2, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Vernelli) DiMaio. A loving mother and grandmother, Jeanette will be forever missed by her children, Edward Pasha of Oak Creek, WI; and former spouse Linda Pasha of Willimantic; Clarence Pasha of Newington; David Pasha and spouse Silvana Pasha of Rocky Hill; Vicky Kochuk and spouse Richard Kochuk Jr of Colchester; and Marie Mills and spouse Anthony Mills of Orange Park, FL, along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren; her siblings, Joseph DiMaio and spouse Verna DiMaio of Radford, VA, Frank DiMaio of Wethersfield, Samuel DiMaio of Myrtle Beach, SC, Carol (DiMaio) Brown and spouse Merwin Brown of Windsor, Anna (DiMaio) Lindberg and spouse William Lindberg of Newington, Angeline DiMaio of Myrtle Beach, SC and Thomas DiMaio of Radford, VA, as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members and close friends. She was predeceased by her son, Ricky Pasha; sister, Josephine (DiMaio) Remillard and two brothers, Richard DiMaio and Anthony DiMaio.
Jeanette grew up in Hartford and worked at Grants in Hartford for many years before working in a lab at St. Francis Hospital, preparing IV needles and bags for the care of patients. She then found her true calling and began an in-home Licensed Daycare for over 25 years, taking care of countless children like they were her own and watching many of them grow up and begin families of their own.
Jeanette had an amazing passion for cooking Italian dishes and making enough to feed an army and enjoyed special time with family, especially large picnics. She often enjoyed going dancing with her sisters and longtime best friend Roslie, and could be caught scratching lottery tickets and watching a good Boston Red Sox game as she was a loyal fan.
Special thanks to Yahaira Ortiz for assisting with Jeanette’s care at home for several years and basically becoming part of the family.
The family would like to express a profound gratitude for the following doctors who assisted in Jeanette’s care, Dr. Wael El Mallah from Starling Cardiology; Dr. Maryann Polukhin from Starling Physicians; and Dr. Terrance Oder from Starling Nephrology for taking such good care of Jeanette, which allowed her family more valuable time with her, especially over the last four years.
The family is also thankful to the doctors, nurses and aides at UConn Medical Center for the care she had received over the past several years, as well as the wonderful staff of Jefferson House, where she found comfort like a second home to recover after her hospital stays. Jeanette's family is forever grateful.
Visitation will be Monday, May 5 from 10-11 a.m. concluding with a Prayer Service at 11 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Donations in Jeanette’s memory may be made to American Heart Association or American Kidney Fund.
