She was the beloved mom of Richard Bovino of Old Saybrook, Todd Bovino of Wethersfield and Joseph (Jay) Bovino of Newington. Jan also leaves her longtime soulmate, companion, partner and friend, Joseph Cascio.
Jan was born on March 11, 1943 in Torrington and was the daughter of the late Anthony Leon and Lucinda (DeMasi) Sabotka. Jan lived in Wethersfield most of her adult life and owned and operated Jan Marie Boutique, a woman’s clothing and bridal shop in Manchester for many years, later moving it to Old Wethersfield. She truly enjoyed working with all of her customers. Jan especially loved working with bridal parties, she took great pride in helping mothers, bridesmaids and especially brides select the perfect dress.
Jan loved golfing and entertaining family and friends. Nothing gave her more pleasure than having everyone surround the island in her kitchen, standing next to her by the stove (while cooking something delicious to serve) or entertaining by the pool. What Jan loved most was traveling with Joe, they loved venturing to new places and they truly enjoyed their home in Florida.
In addition to her beloved sons, Jan leaves her four grandsons, Joseph III, Austin, Vincent and Ryan and her one granddaughter, Taylor. She also leaves her brothers, Alfred (Barbara) and Francis (Ann) along with several nieces, nephews and friends. Jan was predeceased by her parents and her only sister Betty, who was her best friend. Jan was a kind and wonderful woman who will be missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the Helen and Harry Gray Cancer Center, 79 Retreat Ave, Hartford, CT 06106.
