George A. Yacone, 96, of Farmington, beloved husband for 58 years, of the late Rachel M. Yacone, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2020. George was born on June 19, 1923 in Hartford and was the son of the late Biagio and Antoinette (Marcello) Yacone. George was honorably discharged after serving during World War II in the Navy-Pacific Theatre. He owned and operated a floor covering business and was a member of the Insurance City Chorus. George was a huge supporter of youth sports and was instrumental in the building of the Welch Little League Field in Farmington.
George leaves his sons George J. Yacone and his companion Denise Sansone and Mark W. Yacone and his wife Karen. He also leaves his beloved grandsons, Marc, Frank, Michael and Tony and his wife Linda, his great-grandchildren Dylan and Chynna. He also leaves his sister-in-law Giulia Yacone along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, George was predeceased by his sisters, Mary Furlond, Ann D’Esopo and Connie Vinickas, brothers John Yacone and William Yacone and sister-in-law Wanda Yacone.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, February 4th from 10-11 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. A prayer service will immediately follow the calling hours at 11 a.m. at the funeral chapel. Burial with military honors will follow at Mt. Saint Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
