Ellen W. Peterson

Ellen (Woodbury) Peterson, 80, of Wethersfield, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 23, 2023. She and her husband, Carl E. Peterson, III, would have been married 52 years on October 16th. Ellen was born on July 2, 1943 in Beverly, MA.

She worked as a rape crisis counselor, child advocate and teacher for the Sexual Assault Crisis Service at the YWCA in Hartford. She always tried to leave the world a better place and most would agree that she did. Ellen, along with Carl, was a voracious reader and they also enjoyed going to the movies.

In addition to her husband, she leaves her sisters, Anne and Susan and her cousin, the Reverend Ruth Mosher, who was like a sister since Ruth’s father raised Ellen from the time she was three years old. Ellen also leaves many other cousins, nieces and nephews. Carl would like to thank the staff at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford for their loving and compassionate care that allowed Ellen to pass on into paradise with grace and dignity.

Family and friends are invited to a Graveside Service on Monday, October 2 at 12:30 p.m. in Village Cemetery, 1 Marsh Street, Old Wethersfield. There are no calling hours.
