Efrain was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico and was the son of the late Efrain and Maria (Rivera) Lopez Sr.
Efrain was the Properties Manager at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art in Hartford for over 30 years, where he was instrumental in the renovation of the Morgan Great Hall among other spaces in the building.
He enjoyed using his skills with woodworking by creating beautiful furniture. He always found something that needed to be fixed or put his touch on. To him everything had a purpose. While he would work on his projects, there would always be the sounds of his homeland in the background. Latin music would run throughout the house no matter where he was working so he could hear it.
At times he was stubborn but his pride was one of his greatest features. He had a passion for the game of golf which he passed down to his son Daniel at a young age. They would spend many hours on the golf course where many lessons were shared both of golf and life.
Efrain’s devotion to his sports teams was well known; The Boston Red Sox, The Pittsburgh Steelers, and The Boston Celtics were his teams. He would spend hours on end watching his teams play and discussing the outcomes with anyone who would listen.
He was a man of faith and pride with devotion to those who loved him. Efrain was predeceased by his mother in law Linda Dranoff, they had a special bond. He is survived by his wife, Brenda and his children, Daniel, Eddie, Belinda, Anibal and their families.
In respecting Efrain’s wishes, services will be private to the family. Donations in his memory may be given to the Jimmy Fund/Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. https://www.jimmyfund.org/
