Concetta “Tina” (Uccello) Valvo, 81, of Wethersfield, loving wife of 60 years of the late Antonino “Nini” C. Valvo, peacefully entered into eternal life at her home on Monday, August 30, 2021. She had resided in Wethersfield since 1977. Born in Canicattini Bagni, province of Siracusa in Sicily, Italy on July 8, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Giuseppe and Carmela (Lombardo) Uccello. At 16 years old, she immigrated with her family to this country after completing her studies in Italy, where she flourished academically. She continued her education at Bulkeley High School in Hartford, graduating with the class of 1958. After graduation, she worked in the banking industry for over 40 years before retiring from CBT/Fleet Bank. Concetta and her husband worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for their children and instilled onto them the importance of hard work, family, and other core values. Her home and family were of upmost importance to her. As a devout catholic, she was a longtime communicant of the Church of the Incarnation in Wethersfield and participated in various Italian women’s clubs. Tina was an excellent cook and baker and loved preparing dinners for her family and friends. She was known for all her traditional dishes, especially her chicken meatball soup that everyone looked forward to at holiday meals. Tina also enjoyed knitting and embroidery since a young age, becoming a favorite past time. But most of all, Tina was a proud and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, who cherished her time with her family and touched the lives of the people she knew.
A loving mother and grandmother, Tina will be forever missed by her two beloved children, Sebastian Valvo and his wife Magella of Bristol, and Tina Marie Bartone and her husband Erik of Glastonbury; her four adored grandchildren, Rebekah Violette, Matthew Bartone and his fiancée Alexandra Motta, Marissa Bartone, and Zachary Valvo. She also leaves a brother, Paul Uccello and his wife Stephanie of Rocky Hill, along with many adored nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless dear friends and neighbors that have shown her great thoughtfulness since her husband’s passing last year.
Funeral service will be Friday (September 3) at 10:30 a.m. from the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield.
